DRV8432: Static Signals (100% PWM) in the PWM inputs possible?

Part Number: DRV8432

Hi,

Can I use static signals in the PWM inputs A,B,C and D? that means 100% DC PWMs?

Does the device has an internal oscillator to charge the bootstrap capacitor?

Regards,

Jon

  • Hi Jon,

The device does not have an internal oscillator to charge the bootstrap cap.

It is recommended to run less than 100% for two reasons:

    1) A small pulse (turn on the low side for at least 50ns in each PWM cycle) is recommended. Please see section 7.3.2.1 (Bootstrap Capacitor Undervoltage protection) of the datasheet  for details.

    2) If the using cycle by cycle overcurrent protection, this pulse plus a similar small pulse turning on the high side of the other half of the bridge will reset the cycle by cycle circuitry. This is described in section section 7.3.2.2 (Overcurrent protection) of the datasheet.
