DRV8837: Schematics Review

Part Number: DRV8837

Hi,

We are using DRV8837DSGR to drive Miniature Motors High Speed Motors DC Motors, FF-M20VA. Please help review the schematics attached.
Please note, we are using coin cell (CR2032) input voltage of 3.0V.
Also help me understand how Bulk Capacitor (1000uF) is going to be useful, currently connected to VM Pin of the driver.

Do you have any suggestion on power management for battery circuit?

  • Hello Kinjan,

I only reviewed the DRV8837 portion of the schematic and it looks fine. The pulldown resistor on nSLEEP is fine, but it is not necessary since nSLEEP has an internal pulldown on that pin already. The 1000uF bulk capacitor is excessive. You can probably use a smaller value if you want to save cost and space. The DRV8837EVM uses 10 uF, so I would recommend that instead.

The purpose of the bulk capacitor is to supply most of the current to the motor when the device does PWM.
