DRV8801: wiring between motor driver and PWM generator

Hi,

I am working on the schematic of the DRV8881 motor driver and I was wondering that should I have to connect any pins to PWM generator? I have TLC5951 PWM generator on PCB.

Hi Farinaz,

If you intend to control the speed of the motor, the PWM generator should be connected.

The PWM signal is typically connected to the ENABLE pin.

Please refer to the DRV8801EVM as an example.

It is strange, my motor driver doesn't have ENABLE pin. In this case, which pin of PWM generator should be connected to which pin of motor driver?

Hi Farinaz,

Sorry I read DRV8801 in the title and not the DRV8881 in the subject. And you are using the DRV8881P, which does not have ENx pins like the DRV8881E.

For the DRV8881P, typically you will want to set one input high and PWM the other to switch between Forward/Reverse and Brake. Table 2 describes the control interface for the DRV8881P.
