DRV8332: DRV8332

Part Number: DRV8332

Hi,

We are trying to develop a board that uses DRV8332. The card is intended to drive four actuators using three phase BLDC motors with maximum Stall torque of 10A.

I have a couple of questions.

1. Is it fine if we connect the RESET-A, RESET-B, RESET-C, pins of the IC to the GPIO's of a DSP processor or Should we connect these pins also to the PWM low pins of the processor.

2. Does DRV8332-HT also support a maximum peak current of 10Amps.

Regards,

Roshan tej.

  • Hi Roshan tej.,

    1) It is fine to connect the RESET_x pins to the GPIOs. Connecting to the GPIO provides more options.

    2) The DRV8332-HT recommended maximum peak current is 7 A.
  • Thank you Rick Duncan for the reply.

  • Hi Rick,

I have one more doubt. Is it important for me to connect all the three of the DRV8332 PWM's from PWM high side of the controller or else

CAN I CONNECT TWO HIGH SIDE PWM PINS OF THE CONTROLLER TO TWO PWM SIGNALS AND THIRD PWM PIN TO THE LOW SIDE PWM PIN when not connected in the paired mode in the controller.

Please correct me if i my approch is correct. Because I need to connect four three phase BLDC motor's from one controller which has 8 pairs of PWM' drivers that can be used as 16 single PWM out of which 8 are designated as high side pwm's and 8 are designated as low side pwm's.

Please suggest me if there is any approach that i need to connect these 16 pwms to four DRV8332 drivers.

Can you specify the maximum Bandwidth that can be attained by a motor if driven by this IC.

    Regards,

    Roshan

  • Hi Roshan,

    Sorry for the delay.

I am not sure I understand how you want to connect the inputs. Would you please draw the proposed connections and attach to your reply?

Please allow me to clarify my prior comment.

"It is fine to connect the RESET_x pins to the GPIOs. Connecting to the GPIO provides more options."
Connecting the RESET_x pins to GPIO signals uses slow decay when PWM'ing the motor.
Connecting the RESET_x pins to a PWM signal allows use fast decay.
