Hello,

I have a customer that would like to request a graph of RDS(on) based on ambient temperature for the DRV8412. Would something like this be available?

    Hi Jim,

    This is difficult to do because it doesn't account for the self-heating of the device due to power dissipation by the FETs. This is dependent on the current through the FETs. You may be able to use the graph in Figure 3 to back calculate ambient temperature for a given current using the thermal impedance in the datasheet.

    Likely the test conditions for Figure 3 were heating/cooling the device with a thermal stream and measuring the Rdson by using small currents so the self-heating was not significant. Under those conditions, the junction and ambient temperatures are approximately the same.
