DRV2605L: Temperature control

Hi,

To my knowledge the drv2605L turns off if overcurrent is detected or if the temperature exceeds 150C°. Currently in my application, I am using the vibrators directly on the skin.

I would like to know if it is possible to change this limit to 44C°? If not is there a chip that could do that? If not what solution is there? (isolating the vibrator from the skin thermically?)

Hi Karim,

The overtemp protection is related to the IC temp, not the actuator. Also the protection scheme is not configurable, it is performed to protect the device from damage in case of overheating.

Hi Ivan,

Thank you for your response. If the vibrator has a short circuit then 2 pins of the driver become connected. Does that get detected by the overcurrent flag?

Karim,

Yes, a short at the output pins would be detected by overcurrent protection.
