DRV8711: Back EMF Stall Detection

Part Number: DRV8711

Hi,

The datasheet suggests that the Stall detection mechanism will work only if the stepper motor is running at 'increased' step rates.

What are the step rates under which this stall detection mechanism will work?

Thanks

Janani

  • Hi Janani,

The stall detection does not work when operating in full step. There must be a zero current step to measure the Back EMF.

Also there must be enough Back EMF to be measured, and the time at the zero current step must be long enough for the current to reach zero and measure the Back EMF.
