DRV8301: Can DRV8301 drive "FM200TU-2A" MITSUBISHI MOSFET MODULE up to 30kHz switching frequency

Part Number: DRV8301
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8320, DRV8323

Can DRV8301 drive Power mosfet module from Mitsubishi (FM200TU-2A) up to 30kHz

(I attached FM200TU-2A datasheet for your reference.)

I know the total gate rms current is 30mA.

and FM200TU Total gate charge( QG)  is 760nC  (6 mosfet element in a pack)fm200tu-2a_e.pdf

According to your equation in the DRV8301 datasheet, roughly

760nC X 30kHz = 22.8mA <30mA => It's OK

(I assumed MOSFET Qg X Number of Switching MOSFET = 760nC, Switching frequency =30kHz)

Is my calculation/assumption correct?

Best Regards

  • Hi Hak-Jin,

    Please confirm the total gate charge. I believe the total gate charge listed is per FET.

    If the total gate charge is 760nC per FET, the DRV8301 switching frequency will have to be reduced.

    The DRV8320 or DRV8323 may be an alternative, because the charge pump only drives the high side FET. A separate LDO provides the current to the low side FET.
