DRV8842: I0 - I4 configuration for NO current regulation feature

Part Number: DRV8842

Hello,

the datasheet says if the current regulation feature is not needed, it can be disabled by connecting the ISENSE pins directly to ground and the VREF pins to V3P3.

The I0 - I4 pins have internal pulldown resistors of 100k.

I'd like to know if is necessary to tie these pins to V3P3 (or pullup resistor) to get 100% chopping?

Thanks

  • Hi Leandro,

Yes, it is necessary to connect a few of the I4:0 pins to a logic high. If you do not, you are comparing two 0V signals; 9 0% of the VREF with 0V at the ISEN pin. Any noise could trip the comparator.

At a minimum, it is recommended to connect I4 to a logic high.

--- Update: Corrected the 9%, it should have been 0%
