DRV8842: No current regulation

Part Number: DRV8842

Hi,

In the datasheet we found this information: "If the current regulation feature is not needed, it can be disabled by connecting the ISENSE pins directly to ground and the VREF pins to V3P3".

We need 100% of the chopping current with no regulation. Is it necessary to connect the pins (I0 - I4) to a certain logic level (pull ups)? The datasheet  informs that the I0 - I4 pins have a 100k ohms pull down.

Thanks.

  • Hi Daniel,

Yes, it is necessary to connect a few of the I4:0 pins to a logic high. If you do not, you are comparing two 0V signals; 0% of the VREF with 0V at the ISEN pin. Any noise could trip the comparator.

At a minimum, it is recommended to connect I4 to a logic high.
