DRV8313: sinusoidal commutation and other questions

Part Number: DRV8313
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8312,

Hi,

It looks as though the DRV8312 indicates it can be used in sinusoidal commutation context but no mention of this is in the DRV8313. Can DRV8313 be used this way?

Is there a curve that shows how current limit changes with respect to temperature?

Is there any hysteresis associated with turn on after a thermal shutdown?

VM operating supply current is specified at <50kHz. Is the 50kHz a limit? Can you provide an efficiency curve across Fsw?

Thanks,

Jeramie

  • Hi Jeramie,

"It looks as though the DRV8312 indicates it can be used in sinusoidal commutation context but no mention of this is in the DRV8313. Can DRV8313 be used this way?"

Yes, the DRV8313 can be used in sinusoidal commutation.

"Is there a curve that shows how current limit changes with respect to temperature?"

Do you mean the overcurrent limit? If you do, assume the overcurrent can trigger above 3A.

"Is there any hysteresis associated with turn on after a thermal shutdown?"

Yes, Thys is listed as typically 35C in the datasheet.

"VM operating supply current is specified at <50kHz. Is the 50kHz a limit? Can you provide an efficiency curve across Fsw?"

No, the switching limit is 250kHz. We do not have efficiency curves across Fsw.
