DRV8303: Isolating From High Current

Part Number: DRV8303
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO7741

Hi there,

We're designing a Electronic Speed Controller and our IC is DRV8303. We would like to isolate the our MSP430 MCU from the high current paths with digital isolators ICs. Is there any application note or reference design for this application ?

Thanks!

  • Hi Alikaan,

The digital isolator, like ISO7741, can be used to isolate digital channels. The SPI / parallel INHx connections between MCU and DRV can be isolated using ISO77xx device with relevant channel configuration.

If you are looking to isolate the current amplifier analog output pins SO1 & SO2, then you may need an isolated current amplifier (AMCxxxx). Please do let us know which one of the above you would like to isolate. If you would like more information on isolated current sensing, then please let me know so that I can move this E2E post to the relevant for Forum. Thanks.
