DRV8885: Table 6. Decay Mode Settings

Part Number: DRV8885

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask DRV8885?

<Question1>
On the datasheet "6.5 Electrical Characteristics", there is QUAD-LEVEL INPUT (DECAY).
According to Decay's resistor, the value of Io(output current) varies.
Is our recognition correct?

<Question2>
On the datasheet Table 6. Decay Mode Settings, there is the description that 45kohm is used for "Mixed decay: 60% fast".
Our customer would like to use 47kohm.
In this case of 47kohm, is the device possible to recognize "Mixed decay: 60% fast"?
There is no 45kohm in case of E48 series, so our customer would like to use E48 series resistor.

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi Matsumoto-san,

    Is our recognition correct?

    Yes. The Io Output current will be a maximum of 30 uA when the DECAY pin is connected to GND. As the resistance is increased the current will decrease.

    47k Ohm is acceptable.
