Alternative of FCM8201Qy IC for 3-ph BLDC motor controller

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV10970

hey all,

I am currently using FCM8201QY ic for my 3 ph BLDC motor controllers with advanced hall sensor design. But somehow the company stopped its manufacturing.

I wanted to find the alternative of it but I didn't find it as well with quite similarities. I Need Help regarding it that does it have some other IC compatible with FCM 8201QY or not?

I am attaching datasheet that might be helpful to you.

hoping for your reply ASAP.

  • Hey Vivek,

I see that the FCM 8201Y was a gate driver. For motor drivers with the algorithm and power MOSFETs (e.g. half bridges) integrated into the device, it seems that the DRV10970 is the only solution that we have matches the supply voltage range with the ability to interface with Hall sensors. I'm not sure what "advanced hall sensor design means", but from what I gather from the datasheet, the FCM 8201Y has the ability to take the hall sensor inputs and drive the motor through an integrated algorithm. The DRV10970 can do this as well.

See if the DRV10970 matches the supply voltage, output current, and any other specs you may have. When it comes to motor drivers that have the algorithm and power MOSFETs integrated, TI mostly has a sensorless based portfolio (if you decide to not use the hall sensors).

I'll have to check and see if there are any gate drivers that might be able to meet your needs in the mean time.

    Best,

    -Cole
