Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8313, TMS570LS0714
Whilst the DRV3205-Q1 has been designed to drive 3-phase Brushless DC (BLDC) motors via PWM, is there any reason why the DRV3205-Q1 cannot be also used to drive a Brushed DC (BDC) motor via PWM using 2 of the half-bridge drive outputs. My concerns are that the smarts of the DRV3205-Q1 will go into a fault state when attempting to drive the BDC motor when it is expecting to drive a BLDC motor.
In more detail, I am hoping that the DRV3205-Q1 can be configured to drive BLDC and BDC motors in a similar manner to how the DRV8313 can be configured to drive BLDC and BDC motors.
My goal is to develop a motor control card capable of driving both BLDC and BDC motors with a change of firmware. My intention is to use the TMS570LS0714 as the MCU to drive the DRV3205-Q1 for a SIL2 system for a railway vehicle.
