DRV8818: about a decay mode.

Guru 11165 points

Hi team.

Thank you for your usual support.

I have a question for DRV8818 about decay mode.

We will choose mixed decay mode.

According to datesheet,

If the current is increasing, then slow decay.

If the current is decreasing, then fast decay.

Do you agree with my understanding?

If it so.

Is there a difference in mode due to excitation?(2-phase,1-2 phase,W1-2 phase)

Sincerely.

Kengo.

  • Hi Kengo,

    Your understanding is correct.

If the current is increasing, then slow decay.
If the current is decreasing, then fast decay.

I do not have the information available regarding difference due to excitation.
We will provide it by Tuesday.
  • Hi Rick.

Thank you for your quick reply and your review for your team.
    I'll wait by Tuesday.

    Sincerely.
    Kengo.
  • Hi Kengo,

Please allow me to correct my prior statement.

If mixed decay is selected, slow decay is used when the current is increasing.
Mixed decay is used when the current is decreasing for 1-2 phase and W1-2 phase.

If fast decay is selected, slow decay is used when the current is increasing.
Fast decay is used when the current is decreasing for 1-2 phase and W1-2 phase.

For 2 phase, slow decay mode is always used.
For 1-2 phase and W1-2 phase, the decay mode is slow when current is increasing and the selected decay mode when the current is decreasing.
  • Hi Rick.
    Thank you so much.
    I understood this matter.

    Sincerely.
    Kengo.
