DRV8812: The value of the capacitor

Hello,

Our customer use the DRV8812, have a question about the capacitor between CP1 and CP2.

It is recommended the value of the capacitor as 0.01uF, 50V on the datasheet.

Because the supply of that capacitor is poor, so they want to use 0.047uF capacitor instead of 0.01uF.

Is it possible to use the 0.047uF capacitor?

Does it need change the value of VCP capacitor together?

Hi Aoyama,

Using a capacitor that is ~5x will require investigation. This may take a few days.

What is the VM of the device? The CP1 to CP2 capacitor should be rated for >VM.
Example: if VM = 24V, the CP1 to CP2 capacitor should be rated for 35V or greater.

Thank you for your reply.
The customer will use the DRV8812 with VM=24V.
They want to use the capacitor as 0.047uF 50V.

The design team has been pinged and we are expecting an estimated completion date by tomorrow.

Hi Aoyama-san,

The design team recommended a max of 22nF for the CP1-CP2.

We hope this will allow more options when searching for capacitors.
