I have 8881EVM and installed GUI_COMPOSER but could not find any instructions how to run it, what to do with it etc. Is there a manual of some sort showing all this so I can get started?

Ken,

After install the GUI, you will see the window:

You can select "create desktop shortcut". After click the "DRV8881" on you desktop, you can check EVM user's guide and start your test.().

Ken,

Please try to install USB driver first. And then, install the GUI again. If you still get an error, would you take a screenshot and post here?

Getting anything to work on this TI site is very frustrating!

I bought the DRV8881EEVM , opened the box and followed the instructions and downloaded - did not work. Now am told that USB driver should be installed first. WHY didn't the instructions say that in the first place is beyond me. I asked for the 2 links for d'loading and am still waiting.

Now went to search (as per instruction sheet) and that doesn't work too! So, am completely stuck - have been for last 2 days.

Just wondering when TI will get their act together and provide clear and concise instructions without all this second guessing.

From my side, I just followed the instruction and installed the GUI without any trouble. Now, we are running debugging mode. I cannot be 100% sure what is the root cause. For example: the USB driver (CDM v2.10.00 WHQL Certified.exe is included in DRV8881 GUI install package) may not help. That could be possible. But, that is the only thing coming to my mind right now. Understand your frustrating. How about we setup a webex meeting on 12/26 morning 9:30AM (dallas time). We can share our screen and walk through the GUI installation. If you are available, please send me your email address and will send you Webex meeting invitation.

Thanks Wang Li for taking the time to walk thru this with me.

I tried after our webex but still could not d'load Gui Composer runtime from the web, still got the same error msg "error d'loading from the web". This is where it failed before our webex for the last few days. Is there a solution to this i.e. loading from a file (the second option) as I am now stuck for the past 5 days.

The download link can be found in the wiki link, processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Category:GUI_Composer
you can find the code composer runtime download info. After click "download", it will go to "TI Request" page, we have to fill the form:
"What end-equipment/application will you use this file for: "
"I CERTIFY ALL THE ABOVE IS TRUE:"
And then, click submit. This is holiday season. So, the approval process could be also slow. When your request is approved, you can download it. I would think this approval process causes "error d'loading from the web" because it needs an approval for some software legal and license agreements.
Sad, it looks a small work (just download and install). But, we have to go through the approval process. Good thing, this code composer runtime installation approval should be only one time work.

After you download the code composer runtime, please install the 6.2.0.1
"GUI Composer Runtime 6.2.0.1 (CCS v6.2.0): Download GUI Composer Runtime with example application. (~380 MB) : This download package allows you to execute example application. It is compatible with GUI Composer applications created with CCS v6 and lower. The runtime includes JTAG support for C2000, Stellaris, TMS570, Tiva C, MSP430(UART support only) and MSP432. (Minor update to resolve a missing dependency)"

Thanks. D'loaded gui_composer OK. - then tried dloading gui composer runtime, it said already dloaded. So now how to run it? No icon on desktop.

Ken,

When you click "download", a pop up window asks you "run" or "save" it to your local drive. You can "save as" it to your local drive.

And then, you can re-run Drv8881 GUI installation. When GUI requests the code composer runtime installation, you can install it from your local drive to avoid the error message: "download error"

Confused. Please tell me "When you click "download"" what link or file? as I have already got a file gui_composer---6.2.01. this is an exe file, I double click on it and it starts the dload all over again i.e approval etc.. please tell me what exactly i.e. link or file you refer to. Thanks

May be better to try a webex. any way to do webex without calling on my phone as phone minutes very costly in Canada

If you have saved the "GUI_composer---6.2.01", that means you have downloaded it.

After you saved the "GUI_composer...", you can install the DRV8881 GUI. When the GUI asks you to install "code composer runtime", you don't need to install it from website. You can use the local "GUI_composer..." file to install it.

When I get to GUI_Composer---setup.exe, it says it is already installed and " do you want to uninstall it" I say no and then I can't get to the screen you showed i.e "do you want to run or save---------downloads.ti.com". So should I uninstall GUI_COMPOSER?

tried does not work. when I get to do you want to run from web or file I click file and before I key in file path it starts d'loading and then OK. But when I try it out does not wrok
