DRV8306: Does DRV8306 supports variable frequency operation

Hi,

My application require a driver supporting variable frequency because My control gives output pwm with continuously varying frequency does drv8306 supports such application?

-My quick guess looking at the datasheet is that it would be difficult to use the drv8306 with a variable frequency because although there is only a max freq of 200kHz, some external components are based on the freq. For example, the "DRV8306 MOSFET support is based on the charge-pump capacity and output PWM switching frequency". But I'm not an expert on the part.

Hi Onkar - this will depend on the range of frequencies that you will be switching between. Could you share those.
As Sanmesh noted, the IC is capable of up to 200Khz. Are you trying to run a BLDC motor with a VFD setup ?

In my application frequency may vary from 100kHz to 180Kz.
Does DRV8306 support such application?

Hi Omkar,
There should be no issues per-se with this frequency.
However,the FET Qg load on the charge pump will be a challenge at 180Khz

Please calculate the load using section 8.2.1.2.1 of the datasheet
