CCS/DRV8301: DRV8301 thermal pad connection to GND or not

Hi,

I use DRV8301 IC as gate drivers.

Without considering the heat, can I open the PowerPAD (do not connect anything)?

By the way, does TI provide any transfer board for DRV8301?

From Pg5 of the daatsheet :
The exposed power pad must be electrically connected to ground plane through soldering to
PCB for proper operation and connected to bottom side of PCB through vias for better thermal
spreading.
