DRV3245Q-Q1: What is the difference between DRV3245 and DRV8305?

Part Number: DRV3245Q-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8305, DRV8305-Q1

I am designing a EPS ECU circuit for Hitachi AMS.

Now I am wondering about DRV3245 and DRV8305.

It seems that the performace of DRV3245 and DRV8305 is very similar.

But DRV3245(3.93$/1000pcs) is more expensive than DRV8305(2.65$/1000pcs).

Could you tell me what is the difference between them?

What is the key reason for price difference?

I need to decide whitch product for our circuit.

Thank you very much.

  • Hello Ming,
The biggest difference between the two parts is that DRV3245-Q1 is developed to support ASIL-D functional safety capability , while DRV8305-Q1 does not.
  • Thank you for your rapidly reply.
This might be basic, but could you tell me why ASIL-D functional safety development caused so significant price difference?
I need to explain it to my partners and team leader.
Read from function blocks of DRV3245 and DRV8305, I cannot find a big difference.
Could you tell me what is the most expensive functional safety block (For example: voltage superviser?) in DRV3245?
Or maybe ASIL-D functional safety development process is expensive?
I am terribly sorry about my amateurish question.
    Thank you very much.
