DRV2667: Vout=400Vpp @ Frequency=200Hz~300Hz

Part Number: DRV2667
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2700, DRV2665, TINA-TI

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask DRV2667 or other haptics devices for piezo?

Our customer would like to drive piezo with Vout=400Vpp @ Frequency=200Hz~300Hz.

Do you have the device which is suitable for it?
Or, according to external part like as trans, is it possible to configure it?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi Matsumoto-san,

As you can see in our portfolio spec, unfortunately our devices are not rate for such high output voltage.
Although you could consider using DRV2700 in flyback mode; this uses a transformer to increase the SW node voltage in a specified ratio given by the transformer.
In addition, you should also take into account that the actuator capacitance affects the bandwidth, as shown in DRV2700 data sheet figures 9 through 12.

Thank you so much for your reply!

    We would like to confirm as follows;

-Using other devices like as DRV2667 or DRV2665, is it possible to configure flyback also?
-Do you have any design note(detail information) of Figure 37. Flyback Circuit?

    Kind regards,

    Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Matsumoto-san,

Other devices are not supporting flyback mode.
There is an EVM with DRV2700 in flyback mode that also has a user's guide with further information about this design: www.ti.com/.../drv2700evm-hv500
And you can also find TINA-TI reference design for simulation: www.ti.com/.../slom404
