DRV8814: The termination of unused pins for B side.

Part Number: DRV8814

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask DRV8814?

Our customer would like to DRV8814 for BDC at only A side Motor.
So, they don't use B side Motor.
Therefore we would like to confirm the termination of unused pins for B side.
We assume follow;

Bout1, 2 : OPEN
ENABLE/PHASE : Low(We assume that these pins have internal pull-down. Therefore, is it possible to be left floating?We could not find this information on the datasheet.)
BI0/1 : High or Low
BREF : 3.3V
BSENSE : GND
VMB : VMA with 0.1uF cap

If you have some advice, could you let us know?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi Matsumoto-san,

    The connections you assumed are correct. I have a few recommendations to reduce current. Please see below.

    We assume follow;

    Bout1, 2 : OPEN Correct
    ENABLE/PHASE : Low(We assume that these pins have internal pull-down. Therefore, is it possible to be left floating?We could not find this information on the datasheet.) Yes, these can be floated. The IIH value of the logic level inputs confirms there is a pulldown.
    BI0/1 : High or Low Low or floating is recommended to avoid current through the pulldowns
    BREF : 3.3V Correct. BREF can also be connected to AREF if desired
    BSENSE : GND Correct
    VMB : VMA with 0.1uF cap Correct
