DRV8830: DRV8830 Driving double latching relay

Part Number: DRV8830
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8837C

Hello ,

I would like to use the DRV8830 to drive a Double latching relay.

This is the relay that I will be using Hogfa HFE39.

I would like to know the best way how to connect the DRV8830 motor driver to drive the double latching relay.

Thanks

Gavi

  • Hi Gavi,

The DRV8837C may be a better choice if you do not need the I2C interface.

The DRV8830 is designed to drive a motor, and can take up to 12ms to ramp the duty cycle to 100%.
The DRV8837C will ramp the duty cycle to 100% immediately. After the pulse the device can be disabled to save power.

If you need the I2C interface and the 12ms ramp is OK, the device can be connected as shown in Figure 11. ISENSE can be connect directly to GND if you do not need the current regulation feature.
