DRV8844EVM: Split vs single supply

Hi TI,

Can someone explain why there's an option of using split supply and single supply?

I'd also like to know when it's appropriate to use a split vs a single supply.

Bumblebee:

If you have a single supply and the control circuit references to that supply ground, you can use the single supply.
If the control circuit ground voltage level is different than the input the supply's ground, you can use the split supply setting.
"To allow operation with split supplies, the logic inputs and nFAULT output are referenced to a separate floating ground pin."
