Hi TI,

I'm trying to understand why is there a separate DRV880X family for unipolar stepper motors?

Aren't DRV882/3/4X families for bipolar stepper motors also work with unipolar?

    Hi Bumblebee,

    Most unipolar steppers can be controlled by bipolar stepper controllers. There are some exceptions.

    A 5 wire stepper motor with a single supply connection needs the DRV880x family. The 5 wire stepper needs a low side driver only.
    The DRV8803/4/5 meet this requirement.
