DRV8818: Addition capacitance to prevent from noise at ISENSEX pins

Part Number: DRV8818

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask DRV8818?

Is it possible to add capacitance(0.1uF or 0.47uF) to prevent from noise at ISENSEX pins?
We assume that ISENSEX pins connect to amplifier.
So, it seems that it is effective for loop stability.
Therefore, it is not recommendation, right?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi Matsumoto-san,

It is not recommended to add a capacitor at the ISENSEX pins. Adding capacitors add to the system cost.

Adding a capacitor may help in some situations, such as noise coupling due to possible poor layouts or multiple DRV8818 on a small board.

If adding a capacitor, a 0.1uF capacitor should suffice.
