DRV8711: FAULT pin issue on DRV8711

Dear Sirs,

My customer system is under burn-in testing and found there is abnormal FAULT pin signal occurred.(LED turn on).

The fail rate is around 30% with total 1400pcs.

While the LED turn on, the motor will stop, or the pulse # of moving step is wrong.

Customer used 4pcs per system and from the highest failure rate to low is IC10>IC11>IC9>IC8

The PCB is FR4 and the thickness is 1.6mm, copper thickness 1oz.(TI EVM is 2oz)

Attached is the schematics and please help to check if there is anything need to be modify.

Hi Peter,

Please ask the customer to read the fault register when the fault occurs. With this information, we may be able to quickly determine the reason for the behavior.

It would also help if the customer is willing to provide the register settings and scope captures of the currents as the motor is running.

Hi Peter,

Where is the measurement taken in the first pdf file?
What is different between normal operation and failing operation?
Does the motor spin in normal operation and not spin in failing operation?

What is the second pdf file trying to show?

What are the values of the register settings? The .docx shows names, but not the values.
