BOOSTXL-DRV8320S: SLx feedback strictly necessary?

Looking at the DRV8320 functional block diagram, I see the SLx low-side FET source feedback lines are routed to the gate driver block, but there isn't any additional information on what these feedback signals are used for. Are routing these lines strictly necessary? I could save some layout complexity by disregarding these lines

Hi Sean,

The SLx lines are used to sense the source voltage of the low side MOSFET for V(drain-source) protection. The drivers themselves will function if you tie this pin to ground at the IC and not route it to the source of the MOSFET. You will however, not be able to reliably sense the source voltage at the MOSFET and use the Vds monitoring function.
