Hello,

I am looking forward to use the DRV110 to control a solenoid and before the assembly I would like to complete some simulations. I am using the Spice model available at the product webpage. Pinning is well recognized and everything seems to be OK, but when I run the simulation I find the warning "WARNING(ORPSIM-15256): <X_U3.X_X3_U41.VTHRESH> not a subcircuit param" (U3 is the DRV110). Do you have any idea of what it can be the cause of the issue? The simulation runs, but it is very very slow and with strange behaviour, I think because of this issue.

Hi Ignacio,

I couldn't duplicate your issue, maybe you have wrong external component. Seems to me that the warning you go is caused by wrong internal comparator input.

I run couple of simms, and there are matching the bench results.

Since total time should be >Tkeep , simms will be relatively slow.

One suggestion is to reduce the set Tkeep by changing the default Ckeep=1uF to 0.1uF. For this you'll need just 20mS to check Ipeak and Ihold.

Also to speed it up change the target accuracy.

Hello Costin,

Thank you very much for your reply. I tried to modify the value of the capacitor but I obtained the same message. To help the clarification, the circuit used for simulation can be seen in the following image. Maybe you see something that I am ignoring or I underestimated.

I found also that the simulations are slow but after your message now I know that it is normal situation.

Hi Ignacio,

Solenoid inductance is too small, more realistic is in mH. Also it will be good to add a freewheeling diode. Inductance series resistance should be < Vs/Ipeak.

Hello Costin,

I had the diode in the design but not in the simulation, thank you. I have been playing with inductance values to see whether this was the cause of the issue, but it is not.

I am going to keep working around it, I will tell you if I find the cause of the warning at Spice.

The warning still appears, but it seems that does not affect to the results.

Besides I have reduced the simulation time to 100 ms or so and I can have results in a reasonable time.

Let's ignore the warning since it does not affect the simms.

I'm not getting that warning and I couldn't figure out how to create it.
