DRV8889-Q1: What happens if step mode changes?

Part Number: DRV8889-Q1

 Hello supporting team,

This is Ochi. I would like to know change of electrical angle during disable mode (nSLEEP = 1, DRVOFF = 1). Could you tell me what happens in below situation?

(1) Making DRV8889-Q1 operating mode (nSLEEP = 1, DRVOFF = 0) with 1/8 step mode. Then, electrical angle is first position, 45 degrees.

(2) Next, attaching two step signals. Then, electrical angle is 68 degrees.

(3) Next, making DRV8889-Q1 disable mode (nSLEEP = 1, DRVOFF = 1) and changing the step mode to Full step 71% from 1/8 mode.

(4) Next,  making DRV8889-Q1 operating mode (nSLEEP = 1, DRVOFF = 0), Then, electrical angle is still 68 degrees. Is it correct?

(5) Next, attaching one step signal. Then, is electrical 135 degrees or 158 degrees? Also I would like to know why it happens.

Best regards,

Ochi

  • Ochi-san,

    (4) Next,  making DRV8889-Q1 operating mode (nSLEEP = 1, DRVOFF = 0), Then, electrical angle is still 68 degrees.

It is correct. Also, STEP pin doesn't give any sign to make it move or reset to full step 71% setting.

    (5) Next, attaching one step signal. Then, is electrical 135 degrees or 158 degrees? Also I would like to know why it happens.

It is 135 degrees not 158 degrees. The STEP pin signal make the motor move.to next steps. The next step is defined by the micro-step setting.
