BOOSTXL-DRV8301: Power Supply failure during braking

Part Number: BOOSTXL-DRV8301

Hi everyone

I'm working on a flywheel inverted pendulum project using F28069M and BOOSTXL-DRV8301. I have trouble with braking the flywheel. When i try to lower the speed of the motor driving the wheel from certain value (over 2k rpm) i noticed that back-emf from motor makes my power supply over-voltage protection work, and i need to restart it every time. Voltage is rising from 24V DC to something around 45V. How to easily protect against it? Should i use braking resistor/TVS/simple diode? Where to put it?

Thanks for any help
