Dear team,

I am using DRV8711 for stepper motor control project. I found that the resistor connected between MSP and DRV8711 in the reference design is 0.

RES, 0 Ω, 1/10 W, 0603, SMD R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, R11, R12, R13, R16, R17

So why it is 0?

Hi Susan,

The 0 Ohm resistors allow experimentation if necessary.

For example, changing the A1LS, A2LS, B1LS, and B2LS resistors as described in section 8.1.2 of the datasheet can help if experiencing a predriver fault.

Thanks for your reply.

I am using MSP430+DRV8711. I want to control the current into the DRV8711 pin between 70ua and 30ua. How to calculate this or how to deal with it will meet this indicator.

Hi Susan,

There is nothing to do.

I am assuming you are reading the Iih spec of 30 to 70 uA @5V.

This Iih spec provides the limits of pulldown resistor. 5V/70uA = 71.4k and 5V/30uA = 166k.

These resistor values are needed to make sure an external pullup resistor provides enough voltage at the input to be seen as a logic high.
