DRV8308EVM: Why strong pullup (R5, 390E) for FGOUT in DRV8308EVM board?

Part Number: DRV8308EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8308

Hi,

Why strong pullup resistor (R5, 390E) used for FGOUT signal in DRV8308EVM board? I went through the datasheet of DRV8308 and it never recommended any strong up resistor for FGOUT?

  • Siva,

Thanks for posting on the MD forum!

Reviewing the datasheet and user's guide, my estimation is that this FGOUT signal is expected to be used externally through monitoring on a scope or connection to external circuitry and therefore the EVM designer (it was designed before I joined the team) specified a stronger pull-up for FGOUT.
