DRV8873-Q1: Current Regulation vs Overcurrent Protection

• How are currents monitored?
  

For current regulation, the currents are monitored through the high side FETs as described in the datasheet. The high side current information is also available at the IPROPIx pins.

For overcurrent, the current through each FET is monitored individually. If the current exceeds the I(ocp) for longer than T(ocp), the device will take the action set by the OCP_MODE bits in the SPI register.

• If the way of current monitoring is the same for the two functions, how will the two functions operate with the same current information?

The current monitors is not the same.
