DRV8846: motor did not rotate with the control of DRV8846

Part Number: DRV8846

Dear team,

Customer met an issue that when DRV8846 was initially powered on, configuration programed, the motor works normal. Then if they cut off the power then power on again, the motor did not rotate any more.

They asked:

1. If the power sequence of nsleep and enable affect the motor activate?

2. If the decay mode setting affect the start of motor?

3. Will the A1OUT and A2out connection direction to motor have effect?

4. How was the relationship of STEP frequency with A1A2 frequency?

Customer set 100KHz, current 700mA.

Thanks.

Best regards,

Sammi

  • Sammi,

To debugging this issue, please check

    1. Which input pin's voltage are changed before and after recycle the power?

    2. After cut off the power then power on again, does the nFAULT pin flips and  report any fault condition?

I cannot answer their questions before finding the root cause. Let us step by step debug this issue.

  • Hi Li,

    1. The recycle of Power would cut off all power supply, so all status of Pins will change.

    2. nFault will become low during the process and go normal by itself then.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,

    Sammi

  • Sammi,

For question 1: When we debug this issue, I want to compare all the pin's voltage when the motor is normal and abnormal.

"all status of pins will change" I don't get any clue from it. Would you list all pin name; number; normal operation voltage; abnormal condition voltage?
