DRV8301: how over current protection works

I'm curious how the VDS sensing circuit for overcurrent protection works.  If PVDD1 on the IC is supplied with a voltage of 6-8V and the inverter bus voltage is 50V, will the VDS function still work or will the 50V BUS back drive onto the PVDD1 domain of the IC?

    Thanks for posting on the MD forum!

    The device internally uses PVDD as the High side drain voltage and compares it to the voltage sensed at the switch node. It is the intention of the device that PVDD and the bus voltage are connected together and are the same potential.

    Unfortunately we do not support separate PVDD and bus voltages with this device.
