Stepper motor 5 phase

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8825, DRV8846

I am working with 2 phase drv8825 and all thing is ok.

But now I bought 5 phase stepper motor and I can't find any driver ic from TI.

Is there any solution?

Best regards

  • Pouya,

According to , the 5 phase motor needs 5 half bridges. You can select multi-half bridges drivers, DRV8906..., to drive it.

Also, for 2 phase stepper motor, DRV8889; DRV8846... stepper motor driver offers micro-step setting which can help the motor running smoothly.

  • Hi,

Drv8946 isn't not good solution same to drv8825 for 2 phase stepper motor.

drv8825 only need pulse train and direction input.

i can't find any new solution from TI same to si-7510 sequencer from SANKEN ELECTRIC, that's complete solution. seems 5 phase stepper motor driver not grow in TI !!?

  • POUYA,

si-7510 sequencer solution uses two SLA5074 devices as the motor driver. In this case, DRV8910 can replace two SLA5074 devices. DRV8910 or SLA5074 is a motor driver product for us. Si-7510 sequencer is a controller. For us, it is not motor driver products. That is why you cannot find a similar device in brush and stepper motor product line to compare with Si-7510..

BTW, for a bipolar stepper motor, the control sequence could be integrated in some of motor driver devices because of its high volume. Such as: DRV8825...
