DRV8813: xl0/xl1, ENBL, PHASE Control Timing

Part Number: DRV8813

Hi team,

I'm an FAE supporting some industrial customers in Japan.

My customer considers to use DRV8813 and provided some questions as follows.

  1. Is there any things to be cared about when controlling xl0/xl1?
e.g. Is there timing limitation when controlling xl0/xl1 with ENBL, PHASE pins?
  2. DRV8813 can set 4 current level.
Does it enable to use DRV8813 as 1/4 microstepping?

Best regards,

Shota Mago

  • Hi Mago-san,

    1. Is there any things to be cared about when controlling xl0/xl1?
e.g. Is there timing limitation when controlling xl0/xl1 with ENBL, PHASE pins?

There are no limitations when controlling xI0/xI1. We have seen some instances when xI0/xI1 = 11 produce slightly more than 0 current. It is recommended to use xENBL when 0% current is desired.

    2. DRV8813 can set 4 current level.
Does it enable to use DRV8813 as 1/4 microstepping?

Yes, using xI0/xI1 enables 1/4 microstepping. Higher levels of microstepping can be achieved by adjusting xVREF.

  • Hi Rick-san

    I understood.

    Thanks for your quick reply!
