DRV8873-Q1: Self-Diagnosis of DISABLE Pin Function

Part Number: DRV8873-Q1

Hello,

If a system requires DRV8873S-Q1's self-diagnosis of its DISABLE pin function, how can it be implemented? Any ideas?

The DISABLE pin sets the DRV8873S-Q1 output to either an active mode or Hi-Z, so it might need measurement of its output impedance. However, usually a motor is connected, so the result will depend on the motor, too.

Does the DRV8873S-Q1 have a function to achieve it?

Best regards,
Shinichi Yokota

  • Hi Yokota-san,

    The DRV8873S-Q1

One possible method is to set the outputs as H/H in PH/EN or PWM mode. Add a small resistor divider on one of the outputs to create a voltage that can be measured as a logic high or logic low.

When the DISABLE input is low, the voltage at the resistor divider should be high.

When the DISABLE input is high, the voltage at the resistor divider should be low.
