DRV2667EVM-CT: Processing method of MSP430 mounted on EVM when using external MCU

Hi TI-team

My customer uses an external MCU.

Jumper MSP has selected USB to provide 3.3V power for TXS0102DCT.

Each signal (SDA, SCL, GND) is connected to the jumper from the external MCU.

It seems that a control signal is being output from the MSP430 to the DRV2667 when the power is turned on.

How do I stop this control signal ?

Do I need to rewrite the firmware or remove the MSP430 or another way ?

Hello, Hayashi-san,

You are right. The MSP430 sends a control signal to the DRV2667 once it is powered up. The MSP430 contains the power on configuration for the DRV2667. You would need to reomve the MSP430 in order to avoid this kind of conflicts. Another solution would be to modify the firmware, but you would need of a JTAG connector to do it.

Thank you for quick response.

I thought it would take time to change the firmware or remove the IC.

I thought the following methods was easy.

I think that MSP430 will be reset by connecting the SBWTDIO pin to GND.

Is there a problem with this method ?

I don't think there's an issue with this method. I just recommend to verify the I2C lines activity when the MSP430 is in reset mode. Any unexpected activity on the I2C lines could cause data collision when you are using your external MCU.

Hi, Hayashi-san,

Sorry for the confusion. I referred to ensure that the MSP430 doesn't send any I2C activity in reset mode. Any activity may cause a conflict with your external I2C lines.
