DRV2511-Q1: How dose the setting of frequency work

Part Number: DRV2511-Q1

Our team have a question on the frequency in DRV2511-Q1.

As you know, there are 4 kinds of the setting for frequency to DRV2511-Q1.

However we don't know how to use this function.

Could anyone teacher us what will happen, when all the setting are the same(i.e. same power supply, same gain, same input signal etc.) except for a different frequency setting.

  • Hi, Yun,

The DRV2511-Q1 oscillator frequency can be selected by the FS pins. As you clearly mentioned, there are many ways to select the frequency accordingly to the electrical characteristics section:

There are no noticeable difference on the oscillator frequency modification. The device will work similar when the rest of settings remain the same. The only difference will be on the PWM frequency. Your connected load should be able to support the configured PWM frequency. These details should be found on the actuator datasheet.

I hope this helps you. Please let me know if you have additional questions or comments.

  • Hi Luis

    Thanks for your quick answer.

I have considered that a specific PWM signal introduced into the IN+ and IN- port would configure the output waveform.

So from your mentions, output will be different even if  the  input side hasn’t  varied, when the different setting of frequency. That’s right?

Could you help to provide a diagram or theory picture to explain intuitively?

  • Hi, Yun,

You are right, even if the input is not varied, the output would be different if the oscillator frequency is modified. Please remember that the FS pins only modify the oscillator frequency.

You may obtain details on the device block diagram:

Please notice how the output frequency is determined by the oscillator and the PWM logic. The FS pins set the oscillator frequency and the analog/PWM input is independent of this.
