DRV8844EVM: DRV8844EVM won't give me a 24v output

Part Number: DRV8844EVM

Hi,

I am currently working with a DRV8844EVM to power a 24v solenoid valve. I'm trouble is that my output on the DRV8844EVM is only giving me 2v.

My current setup:

1. I am powering the control board with a 24v, 2.5A power supply to VM+ and -VM.

2. I am sending a 5V signal from my NI 9263 DAQ to IN1 and I am grounding my DAQ with LGND.

3. OUT1 is connected to my solenoid valve and grounded back to my power supply.

Please let me know if I am doing this wrong or have the wrong board.

Jake

  • Hi Jacob,

I am assuming you also have EN1, nSLEEP, and nRESET set to logic high. Is that correct?

If so, please try setting IN1 to logic high with no load, and measuring OUT1. Is the voltage now 24V on OUT1?

If 24V, please reconnect the load and try again. If you still experience a problem on OUT1, please examine nFAULT. If nFAULT is low, this is an indication one of the protection circuits is active. Use section 7.3.5 to determine which protection circuit has been activated.

  • Hi Rick,

Yes, I have EN1, nSLEEP, and nREST set to logic high. After your recommendations, I examined nFAULT and measured a low voltage. I decided to go ahead and replace the board with a new one. Everything seems to be working well now. Thank you for your time. It was much appreciated.
