DRV8308: The FGOUT of DRV8308

Hello ,

I just read the datasheet of drv8308 and found that I didn't understand the FGOUT pin function very well.

Is the FGOUT pin can use as a pin that can indicates the speed of the motor ? Whether fgsel = 3 is set to 0, 1, 2 or 3.

And I know that DRV8308 has integrated the motor speed control algorithm in , and when i give a fixed frequency to DRV8308 , the DRV8308 will make the motor have the same speed no matter there is a heavy load or a light load on the DRV8308 .

My meaning is the DRV8308 will keep the speed the same as before itself , when the load changes , or need MCU control the DRV8308?

Yes the FGOUT is generated from the speed of the motor and hall sensor inputs. There are several modes that the FGout signal can operate in, these are the options you mention.

Yes you are correct that the DRV8308 speed loop will regulate the output speed even if the load changes with a fixed speed command.

Assuming there is not electrical or mechanical limit, the motor should stay the same speed if the load changes.
