DRV8703-Q1: Diagnostic information

Hi,

we would like use the DRV8703-Q1 to drive a DC motor. On the datasheet we have seen that there is a FAULT Status register that provides some diagnostic fault: Overcurrent, undervoltage and overtemperature.

For our application we need also the following diagnositc feedback: short-circuit to ground, short circuit to battery and open load detection.

Using a particular type of control driving or a particular configuration, it is possible do these diagnosis?

    Andrea,

    For short-circuit to ground, VDS status register Hx_VDS would report.

    For short circuit to battery,  VDS status register Lx_VDS would report.

    But, DRV8703_Q1 doesn't support open load detection. You may have to build your own circuit to detect it.
