Hi Expert,

Could you please let me know the charge pump circuit control topology with DRV8824?

Customer found frequency difference of Charge pump switching that is depend on temperature.

They would like to know the charge pump circuit control topology and the factors for influence to frequency of  the charge pump switching. 

Also, They seem, the frequency of  the charge pump switching has the variation by each samples.

Could you please help their question?

  • Hi Mukuno-san,

    The charge pump circuit of the DRV8824 is similar to Figure 24 of the DRV8889-Q1.

    The capacitor values may be different but the concept is the same.

    The control circuit monitors the VCP voltage. When the voltage falls below Vmin (maintain voltage), the charge pump will pump. When above Vmax (desired level), the charge pump will not pump.

    There is some hysteresis between Vmin and Vmax.

    Variation depends on such factors as VM voltage, capacitor variation, internal oscillator variation, and comparator variation.
