DRV8825: Driver malfunctions during powering the module

Hello,

I am using a DRV8825 stepper driver with CC2510 micro-controller and NEMA-17 stepper motor. I am using 12 V DC supply for powering.

I am facing an issue while starting up the motor. During power-on, sometimes the driver stops working, sometimes the controller goes down. Sometimes the controller works but not able to reprogram as I am unable to detect the chip.

During debugging, I found that the ferrite bead (0-ohm resistor) on the CC2510 board is blown. From which, I figured out there might be a high voltage pulse coming towards the controller.

I have followed all the layout guidelines given by TI in the datasheet.

Please help.

    Which one is related to "the ferrite bead (0-ohm resistor) on the CC2510 board is blown"?

    Can you share the schematic and layout with a private message?

    If you can isolate the issue and only post DRV8825 issue here, it can speed up the debugging process.

    Hi Wang,

    I am using TI's CC2510 RF SoC for controlling DRV8825.

    Below are the details:

    1. Microstepping - 1/32

    2. Speed - 30 RPM

    3. The speed is achieved through below steps ( 0 to 5 RPM - 5 secs), (5 to 30 RPM - 4 sec)

    4. Once the speed is achieved, {1 step(1.8 Deg) - 4 msecs}, {Stop - 6 secs)

    Venu,

    Actually, I didn't know CC2510 before. This is forum is for motor drive devices, part number starts with "DRV".

    If it is CC2510 issue, you can put "CC2510" in the post title and post it to https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/other-wireless/f/667

    According to the previous post, I cannot point out it is the CC2510 issue or the DRV8825 issue and hope we can get more info.
