DRV8412: use only one Full H-Bridge (OUT_A and OUT_B)

Part Number: DRV8412

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to use only one Full H-Bridge (OUT_A and OUT_B) for DRV8412 with the following set up:
- M1=0, M2=0, M3=0 or M1=1, M2=0, M3=0.
- GVDD_A=GVDD_B= 12V
- PVDD_A=PVDD_B = 28V

And came up with the following question:

- Is it necessary to power GVDD_C, GVDD_D, PVDD_C, PVDD_D? (Leave the pins floating?)
- for these power supply pin, is it necessary its decoupled capacitors if it is not used? (Leave the pins floating?)
- also, are its BST capacitors needed(BST_C, BSC-D)?(Leave the pins floating?)

Also, the customer would like to know the necessary components and connections with only one Full-H-Bridge. Can we just refer the EVM of this device and just removed other components for C and D areas if this customer design is possible for this device?

Please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks!

Jonathan

  • Jonathan,

After reading the datasheet, I would think the GVDD_C, GVDD_D, PVDD_C, PVDD_D pins can be floating. And related capacitors are not necessary, including the charge pump capacitor.

Yes. We can refer the EVM of this device and just remove other components for C and D areas. But, please order an EVM and try it before closing the schematic and layout for this project. In case, we can find any issue.
