LMD18200: LMD18200 AND ARDUINO NANO WITH HIGH CURRENT

Part Number: LMD18200
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8873

I AM WORKING ON PROJECT HIGH CURRENT  USING ARDUINO NANO AND LMD18200

WHEN THE MOTOR IS FIRST TIME ON IT GAIN A HIGH CURRENT ALMOST 10A

LMD18200   DATA SHEET SAYS IT CAN BEAR 3A CURRENT MY PROBLEM IS THAT MOTOR DRIVER IS NOT DAMAGE AFTER SOME TIME

WHEN THE MOTOR IS NORMAL CONDITION MOTOR CURRENT IS LESS THAN 1A

PLZ SUGGEST ME WHICH TYPE OF HEAT SINK I USE .

  • Hi Jack,

Please note the LMD18200 absolute maximum current is 6A for 200ms.

Also there is a protection circuit that disables the outputs at approximately 10A.

May I ask some additional questions prior to suggesting a heat sink?

What is the system voltage desired?

How long is the 10A current observed?

What is the expected maximum current at startup?

    What is the operating temperature?

    ----

We have other devices like the DRV8873 which may be better suited for the application. These devices have the ability to regulate the startup current.
