DRV8701: driving Peltier using DRV8701

Part Number: DRV8701
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8412

Hi Team,

I have a question about DRV8701 using as Peltier driver.

Here is Peltier V-I caracteristic and estimated max value to peltier is 10V/5.6A.
Vin is 48V but it is adjustable.

Does DRV8701 driver this peltier device?
Please let me know if there is anything we have to care about this use-case?

Regards,
Kai

  • Kai,

You may want accurate duty cycle control or transfer from INx to OUTx. The propagation delay of DRV8701 is about 500ns typical. For a motor (high inductance and low frequency application), small duty cycle jittering is OK.

For TEC application, I would think DRV8412 or DRV8432 could fit. The propagation delay is only 20ns. And, it support up to 500kHz PWM frequency.
